Januar 2021 – Weiterbearbeitung der MARISCO-Methodik

January 2021 - Further development of the MARISCO methodology

  • Phase I:         Motivation und Umfang
  • Phase II:        Menschenzentrierte Phase
  • Phase III:       Ökosystembasierte Phase
  • Phase IV:      Problemanalyse
  • Phase V:       Strategiebewertung und –entwicklung
  • Phase VI:      Plausibilitäts- und Effektivitätsprüfung
  • Phase VII:     Operative Planung und Umsetzung.

The MARISCO methodology was further revised and compiled.

MARISCO is a systemic ecosystem-based methodology with a distinctly participatory approach based on the principles of adaptive management of risk and vulnerability (Ibisch & Hobson 2014; www.marisco.training). It has been developed for over 10 years at the Centre for Econics and Ecosystem Management at the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences based on adaptive management methods.

Initially, this was done primarily in the context of and in cooperation with partners in development cooperation - especially for and with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). One focus at the beginning was on protected areas. Then MARISCO was used more generally for projects and an ecosystem-based and participatory diagnostic for the holistic management of landscapes. The methodology is also applied in other contexts and is adapted for each. Due to its systemic approach, it enables a systematic elaboration and implementation of sustainable scenario-based and adaptive-proactive solution strategies.

The methodology includes seven phases with 30 steps:

  • Phase I:         Motivation and scope
  • Phase II:        People-centered phase
  • Phase III:       Ecosystem-based phase
  • Phase IV:       Problem analysis
  • Phase V:        Strategy evaluation and development
  • Phase VI:       Plausibility and effectiveness check
  • Phase VII:      Operational planning and implementation.
