Adaptive MAnagement of vulnerability and RISk at COnservation sites

The world is going VUCA - it is ever more Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous. Conservation and development planning and action must help humans navigating through an ever changing and surprising landscape of threats and risks, which is difficult to interprete. MARISCO represents a toolbox and an approach to adaptive ecosystem-based management. If facilitates  the integration of a dynamic risk and vulnerability perspective into the management of conservation projects and sites. Explore this website that provides opportunities for learning and training in adaptive MAnagement of vulnerability and RISk at COnservation sites. MARISCO is applied worldwide - check out the latest news.

MARISCO is derived from the Conservation Measures Partnership's Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation, but differs by consequently following an ecosystem-based risk management approach. It is designed to ensure that the impact of climate change is taken into account in the strategic management of given sites, but is not limited to climate change. Actually, climate change is considered as an overarching mega risk that will impact ecosystems and human wellbeing directly and indirectly.

MARISCO has been developed and applied across biomes and cultures
